South Lakes Linthwaite House Hotel, Windermere Terrace
The terrace at Linthwaite enjoys one of the best views in the Lake District. In summer this acts as our outdoor lounge, and is the ideal place for English afternoon teas (served with clotted cream), lunches, or maybe a dry Martini cocktail - we think they're the best in the Lakes!
The 14 acres of private grounds are lovingly looked after by Colin our gardener here for over 10 years now: he's always happy to share his gardening tips. We also have a private tarn stocked with brown trout, and rods for guests' use, as well as local permits for the areas best fishing. A croquet lawn to the front of the hotel provides a lazy afternoon's activity, or maybe you'd like to borrow our mountain bikes to work up an appetite for the four course evening meal which is a daily changing menu using the best of local ingredients. It's easy to spend a few hours walking round the gardens, but if you'd like to venture further a field, we've printed copies of walks starting right from our front door.
