Western Lake District
Moresby Hall
Even though this is one of the oldest residences in Cumbria (16th century) Jane and David Saxon knew the ambience was perfect when they decided to open their home in 2001, welcoming guests who might be travelling to Whitehaven on business or for tourism.
Moresby Hall has a VisitBritiain 5 Star and a coveted gold award. Guests appreciate the hospitality and care sometimes missing in large or impersonal hotels. Food here is a delight, freshly prepared by Jane using the finest produce with the menu changing daily. Meals are served in the elegant dining room, and Moresby Hall is fully licensed. Special diets catered for.
Whitehaven is a historic harbour town with over 250 listed buildings and a charming marina. It is a frequent winner of the annual “Cumbria in Bloom” competition. There is also The Beacon, The Rum Story, The Haig Pit museum, Muncaster Castle, L’all Ratty railway, and The Rosehill Theatre to visit. Guests are welcome to play at Whitehaven Golf Club, which is newly opened and only 2 miles from Moresby Hall. There are magnificent fells, lakes, coastal walks, sports, cultural and tourist activities for all ages. The friendliness in West Cumbria will tempt you to visit again and again.
Please note that as a historic house, Moresby Hall is strictly non-smoking. |
