Haig Colliery Mining Museum — Future
The future developments of the museum include:
Restoration of no 5 winding engine to full working order to be steam driven.
- Restoration of the headgear back to working order to be driven by the steam-winding engine.
- Building a Coastal Heritage Railway from the museum 1 _ miles along the coast towards Ladysmith Pit
- Creating an underground mine experience to relive the life of a miner at work.
- Environmental landscaping of the site.
- Developing a blacksmith’s workshop.
- Create a unique transport link from the Harbour to the Museum.
- Renovating the building to accommodate the museum displays, museum stores, cafeteria, library and offices.
