North Lakes
Cumberland Taverns, Keswick area Found
between Keswick and Penrith, The Sportsman Inn enjoys the panoramic
views of the rolling eastern edge of the Lake District, and the far
northern fells. Genuine beams, stone floors, exposed stone walls and
a real open fire, display a rustic character with modern comfort. The
Sportsman was refurbished in 2002. The unusual spatial shape of the
bar means that each table is set in an unexposed and cosy position.
A pool table and dartboard reflect the atmosphere of an establishment
open to casual drinkers, as well as customers looking for a formal meal.
The bar and restaurant combination both share the friendly Dixon family
atmosphere, and quality of service. A large daily specials list enhances
extensive menu choices. The restaurant offers a range of enticing and
interesting meat and vegetarian dishes. A large bar menu is an inventive
take on traditional pub food and where possible the food is locally
sourced and freshly prepared.
