Eden Valley & North Pennines
Striding Edge, Helvellyn

Amongst fell walkers, the famous Striding Edge is one of England’s best known ridge walks – a 300 yard long edge that climbs up to the summit of Helvellyn (3116ft/949m). Although from a distance, the ridge gives the impression that you have to walk along a knives edge, it is not as dangerous as it looks, except in high winds or icy conditions when it definitely should be avoided.
