Beck above Dunmail Raise

Many streams tumble down from the slopes that cradle Dunmail Raise – the pass that joins the Grasmere vale to the northern Thirlmere and Keswick District. This small beck is called Birkside Gill and it originates from a rather charmingly named Willie Wife Moor.
