Keswick
Keswick has been a market town since 1276.
Every Saturday the market fills up the square and Main Street
and is a lively and eventful occasion. The name Keswick literally
means ‘cheese market’ although two centuries ago
cereals were the main items on sale. Today local producers
and tradesmen come into the town to sell their goods and wares
including local food such as honey, Cumberland sausage and
cheese.
