Borrowdale from Lingy Bank
Lingy Bank sits on the southern slopes of
Castle Crag and looks out towards the relatively flat valley
floor of Borrowdale and the village of Rosthwaite (‘thwaite’ the
old name for a clearing). Looking up to the fells, the hummocky
top of bessyboot can be seen, with Great End in the distance.
The top of Castle Crag can be seen facing the other direction,
beyond the dry stone wall cutting through the picture, although
its steep tooth-like shape is best viewed from the other side
from Grange.
