North Lakes
Surprise View

This viewpoint is perched high on an oak-lined cliff edge overlooking Derwentwater and Keswick to the north. Looking down the Borrowdale Valley, Great Gable and Castle Crag can be clearly seen, while directly opposite is the familiar shape of Catbells rising up to Maiden Moor. Surprise View can reached by car, towards the direction of Watendlath, although provides a rewarding break in a walk up from the shores of the lake.
