Lake District Peninsulas

The unspoilt Peninsula region is steeped in history; evidence of which can still be seen at Furness Abbey, which dates back to 1124 and is said to be one of Cumbria’s finest ruins.

The area, which includes the most southerly tip of Cumbria, is renowned for a number of its estuaries such as that overlooking Morecambe Bay which is home to a wide variety of birdlife.

Inland are a number of historical market towns, such as Cartmel, dominated by the proud Church of St Mary and St Micheal.
