South Lakes
Ambleside
Ambleside, five miles north west of Windermere
village, at the head of Lake Windermere, is at the hub of the
central and south lakes visitor experience. Popular with tourists
and walkers alike the town centre bristles with activity. There
are retail outlets offering outdoor equipment on just about
every street corner whilst, for the less energetic visitors,
café’s and restaurants are in abundance too.
