South Lakes
Kentmere Valley
The Kentmere Valley is one of the less frequented
parts of the Lake District, although is relatively close to
the hive of activity at Windermere. The hamlet at the end of
the narrow valley has a small church, a few farms and a tarn,
which was formed from draining a lake in the 19th century.
It is peaceful valley to walk around – a pleasant 7 mile
round trip can be walked from the village northwards, past
Raven Crag as seen in this picture, up to Kentmere Reservoir
and back.
