South Lakes
Sedbergh
Sedbergh is an ancient market town with a
narrow main street lined with shops. Until the advent of the
railway in 1861, Sedbergh was, along with many other towns
in the area, a remote place that it was possible to reach only
by toiling over a number of relatively steep fells. The town
is now well served by road as the train station was closed
in 1965.
