Western Lake District
Cockermouth - two rivers

The confluence of the River Cocker, flowing out of Crummock Water, and the Derwent, flowing out of Bassenthwaite Lake, is found down Brewery Lane just outside the town. The River Derwent, which runs into the Irish Sea at Workington, is famed for its salmon fishing. The tower of the Jennings Brewery can be seen upstream – Jennings have been brewers in the town since 1874, obtaining all their water for the brewing process deep from a well within the grounds of Cockermouth Castle.
