St Bega's Church - Bassenthwaite
The solitary chapel of St Bega’s lies
a stone-throw away from the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake and
is only accessible across a rough track through cattle grazed
fields. Originally Norman, it has been restored over the ages,
but has lost no charm – the setting alone is delightful.
It sits beneath the flanks of Ullock Pike just below Skiddaw
and looks out towards the forested fells of Dodd Wood and Whinlatter
Forest over the lake.
