Western Lake District

Due to its position within Cumbria, the Western Lake District offers visitors a stunning combination of scenery, from lakes and mountains to seaside marinas and beaches. The region contains several of the county's most beautiful lakes - from the serene Buttermere to the dramatic scenery around Wastwater.

Walking in the area is at its best, whether it’s around the Northern Fells or through the lanes and streets of market towns such as Cockermouth, (the birth place of William Wordsworth), to marinas and historical ports such as Whitehaven.
